Club History & Information
Forming in the early spring of 2007, the Utica Klubs RFC has become an active part of the Utica community as a sports team, a social organization, and a contributor to the area’s quality of life. The Utica Klubs RFC participates in the Men’s Division III New York state rugby union. Our 2009 summer season has several tournament opportunities as well as an opportunity to learn the sport of rugby before our fall league schedule. Included in our summer tournament schedule is the 3rd Annual Great American Irish Festival Rugby Tournament, hosted by the Utica Klubs. Our practices are considered a service to the Utica area, providing a learning opportunity for anyone who wants to learn the game of rugby and get a good work out in. We do have dues, which are used to pay for socials, tournaments, refereeing fees and team equipment. The rest of our revenue is generated via sponsorship and fund raising.
Philanthropy
In the past year we have worked with the Utica Community Food Bank, the United Way, and Toys-4-Tots. This year we will look to continue to give back and support the community as it supports us with fans, players, and a place to call home. We are constantly looking for ways to give back to our community and already are working on projects with the Center for Veterans and pairing up with the United Way once again.
