Club History & Information
Forming in the early spring of 2007, the Utica Klubs RFC has become an active part of the Utica community as a sports team, a social organization, and a contributor to the area’s quality of life. The Utica Klubs RFC participates in the Men’s Division III New York state rugby union. Our 2011 spring season has several tournament opportunities as well as an opportunity to learn the sport of rugby before our fall league schedule.
Our practices provide a learning opportunity for anyone who wants to play the game of rugby and get a good work out in. We do have dues, which are used to pay for socials, tournaments, refereeing fees and team equipment. The rest of our revenue is generated via sponsorship and fund raising.
The Utica Klubs RFC is sponsored by the Nail Creek Pub & Brewery located on Varick St. in Utica. The Nail Creek has provided the Klubs with jersey’s and a bar for socials following games. The Pub offers a selection of over 100 beers, as well as a menu including salads, soups, sandwiches, and traditional pub cuisine. Many Klubs can be found there enjoying a pint after practices or on weekends.
Where do we practice and play?
Practices and matches are currently held at O’Connor park, located just off of Mohawk Street on Plymouth Place.
